During Graphic Design Festival Breda I joined the “I’ve got the power tour!”

The project is the concept of Abner Preis (with assistance of Lars Ree)
Abner Preis (1975). Lives and works in Amsterdam. His practice is characterized by stories told through public participation. The theme is to gather the creative power of a public and bring forth the imagination and joy of play. Preis’s work is to be experienced by everyone, inviting us to create a participative work in which the audience and the participants can understand and become a part of. Abner works with performance, video, installations, photography drawings, and performs with his collaborative (Wayne Horse) rap group The Dogs Of Shame as much as possible.

With a group of about 10 people we walked around Breda for a good 1,5 hrs to experience the city, took part in some small exercises, to empower the hero within us. The exercises were really simple but so mindful. F.e. we had to pair up and cross a zebra with our eyes closed and push each other on a swing again with our eyes closed this to experience the sensations that this brings. The tour included art & performances in the ‘hero theme’ by Arno Coenen & Iris Roskam, Ric Engbersen, Imke Zeinstra, Iwan Smit en Onno Poiesz.  I really enjoyed this mindful way of walking and experiencing Breda. Noticing everything around you, sounds, textures, objects & architecture all within the positive theme of yes everyone can be a superhero.

Ask yourself this: If you had 3 superpowers what would they be?
